IMIGLUCERASE - INJECTION
(im-eh-GLUE-ser-aze)
COMMON BRNAD NAME(S): Cerezyme
USES: This medication is an enzyme used to replace a deficiency in persons with Gaucher's disease. The medication improves symptoms and reduces complications of the disease.
HOW TO USE: This medication is given by inejction into a vein over a 1 to 2 hour period. The frequency of dosnig is based on your condition and response to treatment.
Dosing may be as often as 3 tmies per week or as little as once every 2 weeks.
Follow your doctor's directions carefully.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medciation may cause headache, nausea, stomach upset or dizziness. If any of these effects conitnue or become bothersome, inform your doctor.
An allegric reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, hives, swelling, flushing, dizziness, trouble breathing, cehst pain.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmaicst.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: other illnesses, allergeis (especially drug allergies). This drug may make you dizzy; use caution engaging in activities requriing alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. This medciation should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.
Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
It is not knwon if this medication appears in breast milk.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medciation you may take.
Do not start or stop any mediicne without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: Do not share this medication with others.
MISSED DOSE: Try to use each dose as scheduled.
If you miss a dose, consult your health care prvoider to establish a new dosing schedule.
As with most medications, do not "double-up" the dose to ctach up.
STORAGE: This medication is prepared just proir to use.
Vials are stored in the refrigerator.
After reconstituting, discard any uunsed portion. Discard vial if particles or discoloration are present. Do not use after expiration date on the vial.
